Indrajit Lankesh films to stream on OTT

Kannada filmmaker Indrajit Lankesh is preparing to launch his son Samarjit Lankesh with a home production called Gowri. Said to be a film based on true events, the film pairs Samarjit with Saanya Iyer and will be in theatres this summer. While Indrajit says that Gowri will be his best film to date, his filmography is a mixed bag of hits and misses. He is, however, credited with launching the likes of Vasundara Das, Deepika Padukone. A romantic drama starring Anirudh, Rekha Vedavyas and Chaya Singh in the lead, Tuntata won Indrajit the V Shantaram Award for Best Debut Director.

A political thriller starring Challenging Star Darshan and Vasundara Das, Lankesh Patrike was a misstep for Indrajit Lankesh, after the promising start with Thuntata.

Monalisa

Indrajit’s biggest commercial hit to date is Monalisa, a romantic drama inspired by Parthiban Kanavu, starring Dhyan and Sadaa. The film was Sadaa’s Kannada film debut.

Indrajit Lankesh’s launchpad for son Samarjit, Gowri, is a musical 

Aishwarya

Real Star Upendra’s transition from mass to class hero came with Indrajit’s Aishwarya, in which the former played an advertising executive. The film was the launchpad of Deepika Padukone, while Daisy Bopanna was also on the cast.

Huduga Hudugi

This comedy with Dhyan and Lekha Washington in the lead was earlier meant to be a film for Golden Star Ganesh and although it was launched twice, it never took off.

Dev S/O Muddegowda

Loosely based on the Hindi film Wake Up Sid, Dev S/ Muddegowda stars Diganth in the lead. He was paired with Charmee Kaur in the romantic comedy, which also has Anant Nag in a pivotal role.

Luv U Alia

Indrajit’s last film in Kannada was Luv U Alia, which launched Chandan Gowda on the big screen and brought model-actress Sangeita Chauhan to the industry. V Ravichandran and Bhumika Chawla also had pivotal roles in the film, which featured a special number featuring Sunny Leone.
