Indrani Mukerjea has sparked conversations ever since her Netflix documentary, The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth, dropped on the streaming platform. Indrani is the prime suspect in the Sheena Bora murder case. Recently, she attended the Conclave 2024 event in Delhi and spoke about her documentary and the controversies in the media trial during the criminal investigation.

The prime murder accused of the infamous Sheena Bora Case, Indrani Mukerjea, on Friday attended the Day 1 event of India Today’s Conclave event, where she was the guest speaker. During a session titled 'Mother of All Mysteries | Buried Truth: The Indrani Mukerjea Story,' Indrani spoke about her documentary and answered a few of the controversial questions and theories that erupted after her Netflix documentary premiered on February 29.

Why does Indrani Mukerjea think she deserves a Padma Shri Award?

During a conversation, the host asked Indrani’s response to people who criticize her. She then narrated an incident on social media where netizens were discussing how she might get a Padma Shri Award. Agreeing with the hypothesis, Indrani also said that she has contributed to India’s economy by being a hot topic in the media for several years.

Narrating the incident, Indrani recalled, “She will be getting a Padma Shri (because I won the top achievers award), and perhaps I should because I did contribute to the media. For the last 8 years, I’ve been a really hot topic in the media and every channel and newspaper, and everybody got TRPs and made a lot of money because of me. Despite not being a citizen of India, I’ve contributed to the economy of India.”

The question and answer session was hosted by the executive producer of the documentary, Chandni. She began the conversation with the highly criticized segment from the documentary, where Indrani says, “What a stupid question.” She reiterated her previous statements and replied, “I’ve pleaded not guilty, and to ask me the question over and over again is itself a very stupid question.”
