The CBI, through public prosecutor CJ Nandode, requested the court in its application, “to issue direction to accused and other concerned for staying/stopping the featuring of the accused persons and the persons connected with the case in the documentary by Netflix and its broadcasting on any platform till the conclusion of the ongoing trial.”

CBI Special Judge SP Naik-Nimbalkar issued notices to Netflix Entertainment Services India and other relevant parties, requesting their response to the application. The hearing regarding the application has been scheduled for February 20.

What was the case about?

In a distressing event, Sheena Bora (24) was reportedly strangled to death in a car by her stepmother Indrani Mukerjea, along with her then-driver Shyamvar Rai and former husband Sanjeev Khanna, in April 2012. Bora was Indrani's daughter from a previous relationship. Her charred remains were discovered in a forest in the neighboring Raigad district of Maharashtra. The details of Bora's murder came to light in 2015 when driver Shyamvar Rai disclosed the incident after his arrest in an unrelated case. Indrani was arrested in August 2015 and was granted bail in May 2022. Rai, Khanna, and Indrani's former husband Peter Mukerjea are also released on bail in connection with the case.
