Indubala Bhater Hotel will mark the debut of Subhashree Ganguly in the OTT space. As a result, the show is anticipated to be one of the biggest releases of Hoichoi this year. Based on Kallol Lahiri’s eponymous novel, the show is created by Debaloy Bhattacharya and it also features Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, Rahul Banerjee, Angana Roy, and many others. The trailer was dropped on Monday and is currently trending on YouTube. The show will release on International Women’s Day, March 8.
It is the story of Indubala, who comes to Kolkata from undivided East Bengal. The series will show Indubala’s journey at different ages. The trailer shows glimpses of the socio-political turmoil of the Partition and the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh. It also shows the nuggets of two cultures stemming from the same language, Bangla, brushing shoulders and crisscrossing their ways with each other. It is Indubala’s passion to feed others that becomes the bridge between the East and West. Like the novel, the show also promises to capture the turbulent time.
The primary drawback that became evident in the teaser is the shoddy prosthetic makeup on Subhashree to show elderly Indubala. While Subhashree nails the character in as much as we can gather from the trailer, the makeup looks unreal and shoddy. However, the trailer promises an intense socio-political drama for sure.
Meanwhile, talking at the trailer release event, Subhashree said, “ Indubala Bhaater Hotel marks my entry into the OTT world. When I read the script, I knew I had to do it. This role is unlike anything I have done before and I was super excited to do it. The trailer is now out for viewers to get an even better understanding of what the show is about and gives a sneak peek into the world of Indubala Bhaater Hotel.”
