The first trailer of Jis Joy’s Innale Vare was released by Sony LIV on Saturday and it promises to be a gripping thriller about the dark side of fame and fortune. The movie, starring Asif Ali, Antony Varghese, Nimisha Sajayan and Reba Monica John in lead roles, is set to drop on the OTT platform on June 9.

The makers announced the release date with the trailer of the film, which is based on a story by National Award-winning scriptwriters Bobby and Sanjay. The video hinted that the film revolves around the troubles that Asif’s character, who is an actor, gets into after hitching a ride. From blackmail and extortion to violence against women, the movie shows the other side of fame.

Nimisha reportedly plays an Infopark employee in the movie, which has Antony as a computer technician. Reba Monica John is paired opposite Asif’s character in the film, which also has Dr Rony David Raj, Irshad and Sreelakshmi. The synopsis of the film’s trailer read that ‘money makes you do things that you didn’t think you were capable of’.

Innale Vare marks Sony LIV’s third release that has Bobby and Sanjay attached to it. The platform had earlier bought the streaming rights for Manu Ashokan’s Kaanekkaane and Rosshan Andrrews’ Salute, both of which were also scripted by the duo.

Jis, meanwhile, had earlier told us that the story of Innale Vare was inspired by an incident that happened to Malayalam actor Kunchacko Boban’s friend. The director, who is collaborating with Asif for the fifth time after Bicycle Thieves, Sunday Holiday and Vijay Superum Pournamiyum, also clarified that Asif’s role is not based on Kunchacko Boban.

Meanwhile, Asif’s latest release Kuttavum Shikshayum released in theatres on May 27. The film, which is also based on true events, has him playing a cop who leads a group of police officers to Rajasthan to nab the culprits of a jewellery robbery.
