The importance of family, a strong female character and magnificent animation - Brave is a film that is an absolute joy to watch. The tale follows Merida (with her signature flaming red hair) who accidentally brings a curse upon her family that she must undo all by herself. The scene where Merida shoots an arrow and it ever so lightly scrapes her cheek is etched in our memory.

Up is one of Pixar’s most visually stunning films. The plot is simple - Widower Carl wants to go off on an adventure quest to find Paradise Falls, his wife’s dream destination, in his flying house. But when he’s accompanied by a young boy Russell and a talking golden retriever called Dug, an unlikely friendship begins.

For those of you who have watched Ratatouille, it is evident why this film is on the list - the scene where the critic takes a single bite and is taken back to his childhood ties the whole narrative together. Ratatouille is the heartwarming tale of Remy whose dream is to become a chef, the only problem is that he is a rat.

In Finding Nemo, a timid clownfish Marlin is forced to swim the deep waters to save his son Nemo. Not only is Finding Nemo funny, it is also a tale of family and courage. Ultimately, there's one big lesson to be learnt by Finding Nemo - to just keep swimming!
