Emmy season is here! After the Daytime and Primetime awards, the International Emmy Awards’ turn is up next. The nominees for the same were released recently and that includes some Indian series as well. Like last year, this year too, India has received three nominations.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to his projects. The actor has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor for his role in the satirical comedy-drama Serious Men. The film traces the tale of a not so well to do father who cooks up an outrageous lie about his young son, which eventually gets him into trouble. Siddiqui’s Netflix original show Sacred Games was also nominated for Best Drama, for its second season.
Vir Das’ Netflix stand-up special For India, where he gives his audiences his unique yet hilarious personal perspective of the country, is featured in the nominations for Best Comedy.
The Disney+ Hotstar show Aarya has bagged the nomination for Best Drama Series. Based on the Dutch drama series called Penoza, the web series tells the story of a headstrong woman, the titular Aarya who goes to unimaginable lengths to avenge her husband’s murder. The crime drama stars Sushmita Sen, Chandrachur Singh and Namit Das, among others.
At the last year’s awards ceremony, which was held virtually, three Indian shows were nominated. While Delhi Crime and Four More Shots Please! were nominated for Best Drama and Best Comedy Series respectively, actor Arjun Mathur was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Made in Heaven. Out of the nominees, Delhi Crime had won in its respective category.
This year's ceremony will be held on 24 November in New York City.
