Inventing Anna: First look of Shonda Rhimes' Netflix drama series released

Netflix has dropped the first look of Shonda Rhimes-created Netflix drama series Inventing Anna. Julia Garner, Anna Chlumsky, Jennifer Esposito, Anna Deavere Smith, Jeff Perry, Anders Holm, and Laverne Cox are part of the cast.

Inventing Anna, follows a journalist (Chlumsky) working hard to salvage her career with the right story. She begins investigating the case of the Instagram-legendary German heiress Anna Delvey (Garner) "who stole the hearts of New York’s social scene – and stole their money as well." 

According to the synopsis shared by Netflix, the show will see the reporter and Anna form a love-hate bond as latter awaits trial. All this while the reporter is trying to uncover who really Anna Delvey is.

Netflix mentions that the show is inspited by the New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” by Jessica Pressler. 

Deadline reports that Inventing Anna is the first show that Rhimes has created after ABC's Scandal led by Kerry Washington. David Frankel (Marley & Me and The Devil Wears Prada) will serve as director and executive producer of two episodes, including the first.

Pressler is also the producer of the show backed by Shondaland. Rhimes is executive producing alongside Shondaland’s Betsy Beers. 

Inventing Anna will be released in 2022.
