Shreyas Talpade has been a part of the industry for well over a decade now, and has worked with a number of veteran stars during the course of his career. One among them is Naseeruddin Shah, who Shreyas shared the screen with in the 2005 Nagesh Kukunoor directorial Iqbal. The actor recently opened up about how both his director and co-star had given him advice on how to ‘handle’ each other.

In conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Shreyas recalled how nervous he had been on set, and how director Nagesh had warned him about Naseeruddin’s ‘temperament’. Shreyas revealed that the director told him that Naseeruddin has a short temper and if the actor ever felt that he could not speak to Naseeruddin about it, he could always approach Nagesh, who would take care of things.

To Shreyas’ surprise, Naseeruddin called him at the end of a day’s shooting, and the duo had a lovely conversation. Naseeruddin asked Shreyas about his theatre days as well. To Shreyas’ surprise, Naseeruddin also added that Nagesh could get quite temperamental, and to come to him if anything of the sort happened so that he could handle it.

Shreyas said that he kept both the advice to himself until the end of the film’s shoot and revealed that he had a great time with Naseeruddin. The duo used to have breakfast together and play games in between takes as well. Shreyas said that he also got an opportunity to meet up with Naseeruddin after the film’s shoot as well, when the latter was a guest lecturer at The Film and Television Institute of India

Iqbal, which also starred Girish Karnad, Shweta Basu Prasad, Yatin Karyekar and Prateeksha Lonkar, can be streamed on ZEE5 and Amazon Prime Video.

Meanwhile Shreyas will next be seen in Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming directorial Emergency.
