Less than a month after its theatrical release, Iraivan made its digital debut on Netflix on October 26. Starring Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara in the lead roles, this serial killer thriller is written and directed by I. Ahmed.
Besides its original Tamil version, Iraivan is also available on Netflix in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Iraivan was released in cinemas on September 28 amid a lot of expectations. An explosive thriller created quite an in interest among the fans of the serial killer movies.
The trailer of Iraivan promised a chilling tale of a deranged maniac, who is on a killing spree. Rahul Bose plays the role of the main villain Brahma aka "Smiley Killer". The psychotic killer targets young women subjects them to inhuman conditions and inflicts great suffering on them before killing them in gruesome ways.
However, there seems to be a twist in the narrative. Unlike other typical serial killer thrillers, the identity of the killer on the loose is widely known in this film. The trailer begins with a doctor trying to assess Brahma, who has brutally killed 12 girls. And then things get out of hand when he escapes from the hospital and resumes his killing spree.
As Brahma leaves a trail of dead young women, it falls on the shoulders of ACP Arjun, played by Jayaram Ravi, to stop the killer before he claims more victims.
Arjun also comes across as a tortured soul, still reeling under some personal tragedy. Is this have anything to do with his love interest Priya, played by Nayanthara,? Maybe.
Arjun doesn't play by the rules, and Brahma has no rules, setting the stage for a high-stake cat-and-mouse chase. The movie also stars Ashish Vidyarthi and Naren in supporting roles.
