Nayattu and Madhuram actor Joju George are gearing up for his first Malayalam release this year, in Iratta. The movie, helmed by debutant Rohit MG Krishnan, is also produced by Joju along with Nayattu and Charlie director Martin Prakkat.
The film is touted to be a police story and Joju essaying a double role for the first time in his career. The two characters, essayed by the actor, have conflicting personalities and this often puts them at odds with each other.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Rohit, who had previously helmed a few short films, told us that the movie is a police story and revolves around the relationship of the twins. Tamil actress Anjali, who was recently seen in OTT web series Jhansi and The Fall, plays the female protagonist. Srinda, Arya Salim, Sreekanth Murali, Sabumon, Sarath Sabha and Abhiram are also part of the movie, which is set to hit theatres on February 3.
Jakes Bejoy has composed the music for the movie, which has Vijay as its cinematographer. Incidentally, Joju wasn’t the first choice as the film’s producer. Mohanlal and IDI – Inspector Dawood Ibrahim director Sajid Yahiya was first approached by Rohit with the story. Due to the pandemic, Sajid couldn’t back the movie and that’s how Joju, who was by then part of the film’s cast, decided to bankroll Iratta.
The film marks the fourth collaboration between Martin and Joju after Best Actor, Charlie and Nayattu. Joju had also played a police officer in Nayattu, which won him widespread acclaim. The upcoming movie’s trailer, which was released a week ago, promises a suspense thriller with the relationship between the twins essayed by Joju, being the key focus. Their tumultuous relationship soon also begins to have a bearing on those close to them as well as those involved in the work sphere.
