With impending films like Ghoomer, Remo D'souza's next, and many more, Abhishek Bachchan has a lot on his plate. Along with acting, Abhishek enjoys running a sports business. However, numerous rumours have recently appeared asserting that the actor will soon enter politics, following in the footsteps of his parents, Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan.
Jaya Bachchan is a member of parliament since 2004 and represents the Samajwadi Party (SP). Amitabh Bachchan had also joined politics in 1984 and contested from Allahabad (now Prayagraj) constituency, but later quit. Some reports suggested that Abhishek could join the SP and contest from Prayagraj in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
However, Abhishek has denied these rumours and clarified that he has no interest in politics. Abhishek, who is now on vacation abroad, refers to himself as the most apolitical person on the planet and denies any talk of entering politics. Abhishek Bachchan says, "I have no idea where that came from."
The Prayagraj unit of the SP also dismissed the rumours as 'mere speculation' and said that no such recommendation was made by them. They said that it was for the party's national president Akhilesh Yadav to decide who would be fielded from the political hotseat.
This is not the first time that Abhishek has faced rumours of entering politics. It had happened back in 2013 too. Back then, Abhishek had said that while his parents were into politics, he had no inclination towards it whatsoever. He said that he did not see himself entering politics at all. He said that he might portray a politician on screen but in real life, it was a big no and that he would never get into it.
Abhishek has been clear about not wanting to join politics and has focused on his acting and sports ventures. He has been part of several successful films like Guru, Dhoom, Paa, Bol Bachchan, Manmarziyaan and The Big Bull. He has also ventured into web series with Breathe: Into The Shadows. He is also the owner of Jaipur Pink Panthers, a team in the Pro Kabaddi League, and co-owner of Chennaiyin FC, a team in the Indian Super League.
