After the success of Sarvam Maya, actor Nivin Pauly is back with his next film Baby Girl, which is penned by screenwriters Bobby and Sanjay. A thriller, Baby Girl is said to revolve around the events after a baby goes missing from a hospital that mostly unfold over a day. This has led to comparisons with another movie Traffic, penned by the same formidable duo of writers. So is Baby Girl similar to Traffic that won much acclaim? But its lead actor Nivin Pauly clarifies that Baby Girl is not a movie like Traffic.
What did Nivin Pauly say about Baby Girl-Traffic comparisons
Baby Girl is an upcoming Malayalam movie, which will release in theatres on January 23, 2026, a day after the WWE wrestling-inspired movie Chatha Pacha hits the big screen. During a press meet ahead of the film’s release, Nivin Pauly fielded questions on Baby Girl and Traffic, saying both films have the same mood.
"Baby Girl is not a movie like Traffic but both films traverse the same path. Traffic was much bigger in scale and more intense, and was completely different. Baby Girl is on the same path, it will have the same mood… but we don't need to compare it with Traffic,” Nivin Pauly said.
Traffic was a 2011 film, helmed by Rajesh Pillai, which followed the events over a heart transplant surgery and a green corridor that needs to be set up from Kochi to Palakkad. The film, a multi-narrative thriller, had a robust cast led by the likes of late actor Sreenivasan, Asif Ali, Kunchacko Boban, Rahman, Anoop Menon, Vineeth Sreenivasan, and Lena, among others. Baby Girl revolves around a hospital attendant, played by Nivin Pauly. The film also stars Lijomol Jose, who just had a baby. However, the cops get involved over the missing case as they closely monitor the attendant, as revealed in the recently revealed trailer. Sangeeth Prathap, Azees Nedumangad and Aswanth Lal are also part of this film, helmed by Garudan director Arun Varma.
