Is Bareilly Ki Barfi 2 happening? Here's the truth about Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao's reunion

Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao starrer Bareilly Ki Barfi is one of the most loved films. Helmed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the film also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Seema Pahwa in key roles. Released in 2017, the heartwarming rom-com was highly loved for its simplistic storyline and innocence portrayed by the actors. Currently, the film is running in theatres since the makers re-released it for the occasion of Valentine's Day. Amid the incoming love and appreciation, director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari has opened up about the chances of coming up with a sequel. 

Will there be Bareilly Ki Barfi 2?

In a recent chat with India Today, Tiwari made it clear that she is not keen on making a sequel just for the sake of it. She said that there should be a reason to make the second part. The director said, "I don’t know whether I want to make a sequel. Some classics should remain classics. There has to be a pure intention and a need to make a sequel. For me, there should be a complete need for why I need a sequel."

Further, the ace director shared her point of view on making a sequel. She even revealed what would compel her to make another film if need be. Tiwari said, "I think very differently. I feel that if the character does justice and if they are literally better than the first one, then I would love to make it. But if it is not taking anything forward, or it is just another rendition because the first film did well - keeping that in mind - there is no guarantee that the film would work."

But fans of Kriti, Ayushmann and Rajkummar can still hope for part 2 since Ashwiny didn't rule out the possibility of it. She added, "You need to have a story like that, and I haven’t got a good story where I could cast the trio again. It has to be a 200 times better story to bring all of them together."
