Kannada superstar Darshan has often spoken about his love for historical and mythological cinema. The actor’s tried his hand at both earlier with Krantiveera Sangoli Rayanna and Kurukshetra (in which he played Duryodhana), and has a biopic on freedom fighter Sindhoora Lakshmana lined up. Well, it now looks as if Darshan is preparing to do two back-to-back period flicks, what with the motion poster of director Prem’s untitled film hinting at it being mythological in nature.
The poster, features a shot of the actor’s legs – barefeet and sporting an ankle kada pair - and brandishing what appears to be Hanuman’s mace with Jai Shree Ram inscribed on it. His voiceover says, “Until my last breath, I will not allow a single drop of blood to flow”, followed by Jai Shree Ram thematic music, which has fans and netizens guessing that the film, produced by KVN Productions, will be mythological.
Challenging Star Darshan fans excited about star’s upcoming slate of films
Sharing the motion poster, Prem had written that he’s set to step into a “new gigantic world”, which had some netizens wonder if the actor is playing Lord Hanuman or at least a staunch believer who is just as loyal and protective. “DBoss and historical genre are a match made in heaven,” wrote one excited fan. The icing on the cake, added netizens, is that the makers are promising a 2025 release.
Late last night, the team of Darshan’s Devil The Hero had released a first look video, which looks like a pakka commercial movie in which the actor is likely a gangster with grey shades. Darshan fans have been going to town on social media about the actor’s “fantastic” lineup of projects. The actor seems intent on ensuring that he has at least 1 release every year and following up a successful project like Kaatera with a bunch of quality movies.
On the actor’s birthday, he also celebrated the successful 50-day run of Kaatera at the box office. The film has reportedly made over Rs 100 crore and is doing well on OTT as well. It has only been released in the Kannada original version.
