The filmmaker was in Hyderabad to promote the Telugu version of the horror comedy
P Vasu isn’t only known as a director of a blockbuster like Chandramukhi among Telugu audiences. He’s quite dear to them for another reason; his father Peethambaram was the sole makeup man for the legendary star NTR until he entered politics. Now, the filmmaker is back in action with another biggie, Chandramukhi 2, about which he spoke during a press meet in Hyderabad.
"The film is a continuation to Chandramukhi with a small connection, there’s a knot that ties both stories. I’m confident it’ll impress you all,” he said about the September 28 release. Many have wondered if Chandramukhi 2 is similar to Nagavalli, but he dismissed all reports and called it a completely new script. “You can even call it Chandramukhi 3.”
The director said Lawrence has gracefully continued from where Rajinikanth had left before and added both their characters are different. “One may have doubts if both the stars played the same king in both the film, you’ll know more after you watch it,” he stated. The film is set in the same mansion as the first part where the problems begin again after the photograph returns to the household.
In terms of characters, Vadivelu is the only link between Chandramukhi and Chandramukhi 2, he confirmed. He has done comedy well and Radhika Sarathkumar has done justice to her part too. He’s confident of pleasing family crowds. P Vasu remembered how MM Keeravaani got the Oscar nomination while he was working during Chandramukhi 2. “I feel blessed to work with someone with such great musical sense after Ilaiyaraaja.”
Kangana came into the film by accident, the filmmaker shared. “I went to narrate another film to her and she asked me about the status of Chandramukhi 2 and expressed her readiness to do the project. I hope we’ll interact during the success meet again.” He thanked Lyca Productions for trusting him fully with the project and giving him all creative freedom.
