Nawazuddin Siddiqui might have inaugurated the OTT culture in India with his role of Gaitonde in Sacred Games, but the actor took a decision that shook all - he decided to quit OTT, even if it was for a brief period of time. Yes, Nawazuddin expressed his disappointment in working for the very platform that brought him immense fame, and you'd never guess why. The actor, soon to be seen in Costao, has now revealed what made him decide that quitting OTT is a better option. Here's what he said...
Nawazuddin Siddiqui had previously called OTT a 'dumping ground' for repetitive content. "We either get shows that don’t deserve to be seen in the first place, or sequels to shows that have nothing new to offer," the actor had stated. What he really meant, the Haddi actor told IANS, is that he doesn't wish to do projects that appeared like serials. He clarified that his comment was never about quitting OTT but hoping to find better work on the platform.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui was one of the earlier faces of OTT even before the digital world boomed. He kept breaking the barrier by associating with unique content, all with the help of OTT. Even as Nawazuddin struggled to find audiences in theatres, he became a legend thanks to Sacred Games, followed by Sacred Games season 2. The actor kept juggling between theatrical releases and OTT shows and movies, and continues doing so even with Costao.
