After Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt’s next film comes in the form of Darlings, in which she will share the screen with Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, Roshan Mathew. The film is scheduled to be released on Netflix, or is it? The stars recently answered this very question in a quirky new announcement video.
Netflix unveiled the new video on their official social media handles today. In the video, the stars are asked the question of whether the upcoming film will arrive on Netflix, and the actors find funny ways to dodge the question as best as they could. While Alia feigns a meeting appointment, Vijay starts stuffing food in his mouth. When the latter receives a call from ‘Netflix’, he hilariously reply that it is a relative. Shefali and Roshan too are not spared of the question, and the duo come up with more than a few creative ways to not answer it. Roshan is even seen making a run for it. In the end Alia replies ‘see you soon’.

Netflix had bagged the rights of the upcoming film back in February, with a Pinkvilla report stating that the streaming giant had spent almost Rs 80 crore for the film’s exclusive streaming rights.
The upcoming film is touted to be a black comedy between the mother and daughter of a conservative, lower middle-class family. Shefali stars as the mother while Alia will play her daughter. Jasmeet K Reen has directed the film, which has music composed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
Alia, Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma have produced the project. The film marks Alia’s first outing as a producer. The film is bankrolled by Alia’s Eternal Sunshine Productions banner and Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment.
