According to Variety, Ryan Reynolds has put any rumours about his Deadpool character appearing in the upcoming Marvel Studios feature, Benedict Cumberbatch starrer Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, to rest.

The actor told the magazine that he was not actually in the movie. However, he has assured fans of the merc with a mouth that the third instalment of Deadpool is "coming along." Ryan also discussed his role as the title character in The Adam Project, in which he plays a fighter pilot in the year 2050 who befriends his 12-year-old self, played by newcomer Walker Scobell, when he travels back in time to the year 2022.

Reynolds and filmmaker Shawn Levy, with whom he previously worked on Free Guy, reunite in this film. Adam's parents will be played by Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner. In addition, Zoe Saldana and Catherine Keener star in the film.

It felt like one of those big wish-fulfillment movies with huge stakes and a high concept for Reynolds about The Adam Project. But it was really about something very personal as well, which is sort of what he loved about movies in the '80s, what he loved about E.T. and Back to the Future, and anything that Steven Spielberg's Amblin did, like Goonies.

It just felt like it harkened back to that kind of filmmaking for Reynolds, and it felt timely given the historical period they are in. He always thinks of it in terms of the Mary Pickford model, which is to make them laugh, cry, and then laugh again. Reynolds went on to say that one has developed something worth seeing if you can achieve it.

On March 11, 2022, the film will be available to stream on Netflix.
