The movie is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s Malayalam short story of the same name

Fahadh Faasil and Mahesh Narayanan are a duo that is fast becoming a favourite among the Malayali audiences. Fahadh Faasil’s next will reportedly be with the editor-turned-director and is titled Sherlock.
According to a Times of India report, the movie will be one of the ten feature films that will be based on the career works of MT Vasudevan Nair, and will begin filming in January, 2022 in Canada.
The movie, which will see Fahadh play the lead role, is based on one of famed author MT Vasudevan Nair’s crafty short story of the same name. While Fahadh plays the role of Balu from the story, Nadiya Moidu will also be a part of the movie, sharing screen with Fahadh for the first time.
Considered one of the best short works of the renowned writer, Sherlock is set in the 1990’s and follows Balu, who moves to Canada and lives with his sister in search of work. The titular character is a cat, who Balu believes is causing troubles in his life.
The story also has elements of mystery and can call for many interpretations by the reader. Fans who are familiar with the writer’s work will be immediately excited about the prospect of it becoming a movie.
Fahadh Faasil played an important role in Take Off, which was Narayanan’s debut directorial and was also a part of C U Soon, which came out during the lockdown. The two last collaborated in Malik, which saw Fahadh play Ahammadali Sulaiman in a coming of age movie that received rave reviews.
