Monday morning started on a high note with Kartik Aaryan announcing that he's a part of Aashiqui 3. The third instalment of the hit franchise will be directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Vishesh Films. Although the male lead has been finalized, the makers are yet to announce the leading lady of the romantic drama. It is being reported that Jennifer Winget is likely to play the female lead opposite Kartik in Aashiqui 3.
But during an interaction with India Forums, Basu set the record straight. He told the portal that he had also heard these reports. But in all honesty, this is still very early in the process. They are currently brainstorming ideas for different filmmaking endeavours. Later, casting will be locked.
The T-Series and Vishesh Films released the first movie, which was directed by Mahesh Bhatt, in 1990. With their parts in the movie, Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal became overnight sensations. Aashiqui 2, which was likewise a box office hit and was directed by Mohit Suri and starred Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, brought the franchise back to life in 2013.
Basu, the creator of the movies Ludo, Barfi, and Jagga Jasoos, will helm the third instalment. The director and Kartik are working together on screen for the first time in Aashiqui 3.
The musical love story's second instalment was more of a spiritual successor than a direct sequel, and its third instalment will follow suit. The songs will be provided by Pritam, who has a long and fruitful working connection with Basu and has composed the hit scores of several of his films.
Meanwhile, talking about Jennifer Winget, the actor was last seen in the second season of the OTT series, Code M. The story centres on Indian Army lawyer Monica Mehra, played by the actor, who, while looking into a case involving a military encounter, uncovers a conspiracy.
Code M is currently streaming on ALTBalaji, ZEE5, and Voot.
