Is Kamal Haasan's Vikram emerging as the biggest grosser in Tamil Nadu?

If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, Kamal Haasan's recent outing Vikram is all set to be one of the highest grossers in Tamil Nadu. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial had recently smashed the five-year-old record of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion of being the highest grosser in the state. With the film still running in theatres to good capacity, even after four weeks of release, it looks like there is just no stopping the action entertainer. Vikram has already overtaken the collection of some of the biggest releases in Tamil Nadu.

The industry estimates say that the film has crossed Rs 410 crore collection worldwide, and 180 crore in Tamil Nadu and 100 crore share in the state. The film hit screens on June 3. Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil share screen space with the Ulaganayagan in the film, and there is a special appearance by Suriya as well, which won a lot of applause in theatres.

The supporting cast includes Narain, Chemban Jose Vinod, Kalidas Jayaram, Gayathrie Shankar and Arjun Das. Music for the film is by Anirudh Ravichander and the songs and the background score have emerged as huge hits. Cinematography for the film is by Girish Gangadharan and editing is by Philomin Raj. Vikram marks Anirudh's second outing with Kamal Haasan after Indian 2, and the second collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj after the Vijay- Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Master. Vikram marked Fahadh Faasil's third film in Tamil after Velaikkaran and Super Deluxe. The NFTs of the film were launched at the Cannes Festival this year, for which Kamal Haasan himself was present.

Even before the film hit screens, the team had expressed their confidence in the film and stated that it will surely hit screens. Later, buoyed by the success of the film, Kamal Haasan showered the team with gifts, including a luxury car for Lokesh Kanagaraj and a luxury watch for Suriya. Kamal Haasan also released a special video in which he thanked everyone for making the film, a huge success.
