Kangana Ranaut was most recently seen in the action film Dhaakad. However, the film failed to connect with the audience, and it was quickly pulled from theatres due to bad reviews. The actor is reportedly preparing for his next film, Tejas. Indeed, word on the street is that, following the Dhaakad fiasco, the RSVP filmmakers are reshooting some scenes and planning to release the film only on OTT.
A source told Bollywood Hungama that post-Dhaakad, the makers of Tejas have decided to reshoot some aspects of the film to prevent making a similar error. Aside from that, RSVP believes that Tejas will do better if the movie had a direct-to-OTT release, considering the recent box office turbulence or rather Kangana's track record.
The source further told the entertainment portal that Ronnie Screwvala and the RSVP team working on Tejas are still thinking about a direct-to-OTT release. They have yet to lock in a platform and date. However, the prevailing agreement is that an OTT release will benefit all parties involved, including the producer, actor, and director. They don't want to be caught off guard by a box office disaster like Dhaakad, so they'd like to lock down their ads.
In order to have a better understanding of the situation, when the portal contacted RSVP, they flatly disputed the reports. In reality, according to RSVP, the film will still be released in theatres in October. While certain elements of the film are still to be shot, the production house claims that it will be completed in time for an October 2022 release. Regarding the release date, Tejas' producers have confirmed that the film will hit theatres on October 5.
Tejas is a film about a fearless female fighter pilot and the 2016's Indian Air Force's decision to induct women into combat roles.
