Rani Mukerji has created a franchise for herself with Mardaani. The actor had two instalments released in 2014 and 2019 respectively. During a recent interaction, Rani was asked about the third instalment of the hit franchise, in which she plays the role of a fearless cop named Shivani Shivaji Roy. The actor was last seen in the second instalment of Bunty Aur Babli, which was released earlier this month.

While talking to BollywoodLife, Rani revealed that she has been insisting on Gopi Puthran writing for Mardaani 3 soon. For the uninitiated, the filmmaker wrote the script for the first part and directed the second instalment along with penning the screenplay.

The actor stated that she keeps mentioning it, but her writer has yet to write anything. Rani shared that it's a franchise near and dear to her heart because she adores the franchise as well. However, she believes it is critical to bring a really significant cause to such a franchise.

The Chalte Chalte actor added that only if there is a relevant reason and what they say in the film is vital, does it make sense to make Mardaani 3. Rani went on to say that there's no use in making Mardaani 3 unless they obtain it. She concluded by saying that people will respond positively only if they discuss a relevant issue.

Earlier, during an interview, Puthran shared that Mardaani 3 will undoubtedly take place. The filmmaker revealed that Aditya Chopra, Rani, and he were talking, and they concluded that they should not trash the Mardaani universe they had established. He also said that the forthcoming stories should be portrayed with the utmost honesty. They don't want to write stories just for the sake of writing stories. Thus, Mardaani 3 will undoubtedly be released with a solid subject.
