Veteran actor Mumtaz was all set to be a part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Netflix series, Heeramandi. Now, as per the latest reports, the actor is no longer a part of the web series, and during an interaction with ETimes, she spoke at length about the same. Mumtaz said that a series called Heeramandi is based on the "mandi" that once existed in India. She likes Bhansali, and he likes her, while the way he portrays the heroes is exquisite.

Mumtaz said that, like V. Shantaram before him, the filmmaker puts in a lot of effort. She went to his office to meet him there. Their three-hour meeting lasted a long time. When he revealed that he was a fan of hers, she was shocked. Bhansali respects people who have potential and is a superb director. Since they are both perfectionists, they got along great. The director simply mentioned that he would want to see her in Heeramandi.

Mumtaz revealed that she won't say anything more until he is asked about it. The actor doesn't want to make any statements that haven't already been discussed. Bhansali might believe that she is not the right fit for the part or that her demands are unreasonable because she doesn't do free labour. The filmmaker will be able to respond to it, and she doesn't want to do anything to hurt him since she respects him.

On being asked what kind of movies she would like to be a part of, Mumtaz said that she would like to make a movie where Jane Fonda isn't merely shown as an elderly woman, similar to Monster in Law. The senior actor had a solid role, was presented in a sophisticated manner, and looked good; that kind of information would be interesting to hear. Mumtaz revealed that she has taken excellent care of herself.

The actor went on to say that people comment on how well I still look. The offers keep coming, but performing "bits and pieces" of work is pointless. She needed two years to be persuaded to do a show for Sony TV. The actor is doing it for her fans, and she is extremely fortunate that people continue to describe her as their favourite artist and fan even after she hasn't worked for so long. Mumtaz wanted to perform the show for her fans and gauge their response.
