South Korean show Squid Game has created a sensational wave on Netflix. Touted as the most-viewed show on the streaming platform, the series is about 456 desperate contestants who compete with each other in a mysterious and deadly survival game. The tasks involve multiple rounds of childhood games to win 45.6 billion won prize money that can pull them out of their misery.

Now as per reports in Bloomberg, Squid Game is estimated at $900 million with more than 130 million people have been watching the show. Interestingly, the show was produced at $21.4 million with a production cost of $2.4 million per episode. 

Meanwhile, the portal reported that Netflix has denied commenting on the profits they gained due to Squid Game. The attorney of the streaming platform reacted to the Bloomberg report by stating, "Netflix does not discuss these metrics outside the company and takes significant steps to protect them from disclosure."

For the uninitiated, in Squid Game, a mysterious invitation is sent to people at risk who are in dire need of money to join the game. Around 456 participants from all walks of life are locked into a secret location where they play deadly games to win 45.6 billion won. Talking about the games, they are Korean traditional children's games such as Red Light, Green Light, but the consequence of losing is death. The series then unfolds who will be the winner and also what is the purpose behind this game. 

The first season dropped a few weeks back and comprises nine episodes each. The runtime of each episode is nearly an hour. 

The survival drama series is created by Hwang Dong-hyuk who has also written and directed the show. Squid Game features Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, Jung Ho-yeon, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi, Kim Joo-ryoung and others.
