The new title and first-look poster of Dhanush directorial, D50, aka Raayan, was announced earlier and was well received by fans. The new poster featured Dhanush along with Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan in what appears to be a fish market. The poster was immediately noted by eagle-eyed fans who believe that the film’s script has a connection with Dhanush’s shelved project with actor Ajith.

For the unversed, director Selvaraghavan had in 2023 planned on directing a similar gangster drama, which was revealed by actor Bharath in an earlier interview. The Tamil actor hinted that the director was planning on collaborating with Dhanush and Ajith. The short glimpse shared by actor Bharath created a widespread buzz over the dream collaboration. Many reports also claimed that the said gangster drama was titled Kasimedu. However, the film did not materialise with all the stars backing out of the project. It is now rumoured that the said shelved project has been reworked by actor Dhanush and has been renamed as Raayan. Nonetheless, this upcoming gangster is sure to be one of a kind and we cannot wait to witness the cinematic experience curated by actor Dhanush.

About Raayan

As we know, Dhanush’s second directorial project has now been titled Raayan and marks his 50th film in his acting career. The film is touted to be an out-and-out gangster action drama which is based on real-life events. Set against the compelling backdrop of Vada Chennai (North Chennai), the film is speculated to follow the lives of three brothers. Dushara Vijayan, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Anikha Surendran and Sundeep Kishan will be seen playing key roles.

The first-look poster, which was unveiled earlier, showcased Dhanush in a raw and intense avatar, donning a blood-stained apron. With the rumours about the new film’s connection with the shelved Kasimedu (which is also incidentally a fish harbour in Tamil Nadu), the Dhanush directorial might feature the lead cast playing roles that involve fish trade.
