Previously, the former Indian captain expressed a desire for Ranbir Kapoor to play him in the biopic.
Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of India's men's cricket team, announced on social media in 2021 that Luv Ranjan's production company is making a film about his life. A previous report said that Ranbir Kapoor was the best choice for the main role.
Yet back then, Sourav had downplayed the story, adding that no conclusion had been reached. After the meeting, he hopes they can exchange some useful information.
Recently, rumours started up again that Ranbir was planning to go to Kolkata to see the famous Eden Gardens, the CAB office, and even Ganguly's home. This is done before the actor starts shooting the biopic, which is expected to have a big budget. According to reports, Sourav has approved the final draft of the script, and production on the movie is set to begin soon.
Ankur Garg, the movie's co-producer, responded to ETimes' inquiry by saying that, in all honesty, there isn't any new information to report at this time. After the premiere of their upcoming movie, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, they will concentrate on several projects, including the biopic. Casting and other topics have not yet been explored.
Dona Ganguly, Sourav's wife, also said that she was not certain or sure yet and further stated that all suppositions were unfounded.
A close friend of Sourav's and one of the project's creators, Sanjay Das, revealed that there are still some issues with the movie. Who will play the major role will need to be decided on for at least eight to nine months. When everything is ready, Sourav and the production company will officially reveal who will portray his character on screen. At this point, it is only a rumour that Ranbir Kapoor will portray Dada.
RK is getting ready for the release of the movie Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor and is directed by Luv Ranjan.
