While the actors and writers of Schitt's Creek have teased fans about a possible film adaptation since the show's last season ended, co-creator and actor Dan Levy shared an update on the project. However, at Glenn Close and Bring Change to Mind's annual Revels & Revelations Gala, Levy told Us Weekly that there's no update on a Schitt's Creek movie. While nothing is in the works right now, Levy hinted at what it would take to get a project off the ground.

During a mental health event in New York City, he told the same publication that he was awaiting an excellent idea, and until that happened, they were leaving it as is. The actor-filmmaker, however, added that the book Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: The Story of Schitt's Creek was enjoyable, and he spent a significant amount of time on it. So, until that happens, or if it does, Dan pointed out that there's a fantastic book that people can read.

When Dan and his father, Eugene Levy, won the Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter Award from Zak and Zelda Williams at the City Winery gala, the Happiest Season actor couldn't help but gush about his former co-stars. He shared that the show's cast is like a second family to him, adding that he speaks with them nearly every day.

Following the Emmy-winning series' six-season run, the cast, including the Degrassi: The Next Generation alum's father and co-star, has been vocal about returning to the Rose family's lives for one last time. During a November 2020 interview with Fox 5 New York, Eugene stated that the thought of working with folks again is still something that is kind of at the front of their minds.

The veteran actor added that they never ruled out the prospect of returning in some way, whether it's a movie or another Christmas event. He shared that it would be amazing to work with everyone again, because those six years were without a doubt the best of his life.
