Vaadivaasal is a Tamil film project which was announced sometime back with director Vetrimaaran and actor Suriya. The film had been on the back burner for both Suriya and the Viduthalai director for a while now. While it was only recently that the project was revived, fresh reports state that the project is not going forward. However, no official information has confirmed or denied the rumour.
Vaadivaasal is a Tamil film, directed by Aadukalam filmmaker Vetrimaaran, starring Suriya. The film is based on CS Chellappa’s 1940 novel, and revolves around the traditional bull-taming sport Jallikattu, which is seen in rural areas of Tamil Nadu. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the V Creations banner. A behind-the-scenes video of Suriya training with bulls was released in 2022, heightening anticipation.
After much delay due to the pandemic and prior commitments, Vaadivaasal was recently revived by the makers and was set to go on floors soon. Thanu had said that the project had already begun, and musical works were going in full swing by GV Prakash. Vetrimaaran had also stated that the project will go on floors in summer, but there has been no update ever since then. However, as per the latest reports from unconfirmed sources, the project is said to have been dropped. This comes as a huge disappointment for Suriya fans.
Meanwhile, Suriya is now working with RJ Balaji for a film tentatively called Suriya 45. It stars Trisha, Swasika, and others. The Ayan actor also announced a film with Telugu filmmaker Venky Atluri,
It is also speculated that Vetrimaaran is instead pursuing a project with Silambarasan who is recently seen in Thug Life alongside Kamal Haasan. However, it is doubtful that the project might happen, only because the Vaanam star has already three projects lined up, including with Ashwath Marimuthu, Desingh Periyasamy and Ramkumar Balakrishnan.
