After successfully completing Leo on schedule, and keeping it ready for its smooth worldwide release on October 19, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has now begun promoting the movie. He has been giving back-to-back interviews dwelling on the massive efforts that went into turning Leo into a reality.

Starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role, Leo is the most highly-anticipated Tamil movie across the world. Speaking about the project, Lokesh revealed that this movie has been in the works even since the actor-director duo made their previous blockbuster Master.

Leo has been the subject of a lot of speculation since the project went on the floors. And the strongest of them all is this is a remake of the 2005 runway hit A History of Violence. Touted to be one of the greatest Hollywood films ever made, the movie was the big-screen adaptation of a graphic novel of the same name.

After the release of the trailer, many are now convinced Leo is the remake of A History of Violence. However, Lokesh remains unfazed, while refusing to give a direct answer about the movie's original source material.

"I have been reading about these things from the beginning. Is this movie based on this or the remake of that? Or whether or not Leo is part of LCU. But, I have not answered these questions because I don't want my responses to disturb the theatrical experience of the audience in any way. Let them watch it with a fresh mind. I will discuss all these things post the release," Lokesh said in an interview with Behindwoods.

All about A History of Violence

A History of Violence first made its debut at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival and it became a smash hit at the box office following its release in cinemas across the world. It also won two Oscar nominations and many more coveted awards. The film was headlined by Viggo Mortensen, who essayed the role of Tom Stall.

A History of Violence tells the story of a reformed gangster named Joey Cusack. He has quit his life in crime, assumes a new identity as Tom Stall and lives a rather mundane life in a sleepy small town Indiana. He is living a fulfilled life with his wife, two children and a modestly successful diner. However, his life turns upside down when he ends up killing two men who try to rob his diner.
