Bollywood celebrities are one of the highest paid people is something that we all know and abide by. There was a time when the film’s leading stars used to be paid astronomical amounts to the tune of crores and beyond. Then came a time when the leading men were not just paid their desired remuneration, but also a share in the film’s profits. These days, it's not just the leading men and women who get paid in crores, even the filmmakers have started getting paid astronomical amounts to direct a film. The latest example is that of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, who has definitely become a hot property after the runaway success of the multi-starrer ‘Brahmastra’. Besides this film, Ayan Mukerji also has other hit films like ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘WAR’ and others.
A couple of days back, Bollywood Hungama created a buzz of sorts when they published their source based story which stated that Ayan Mukerji was all set to paid a whopping Rs. 32 crores to direct Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. in ‘War 2’, thus becoming the second highest paid director in the YRF (Yash Raj Films) camp. The news story stated a source telling that Post ‘Brahmastra’, Aditya Chopra he knew that Ayan had the potential to direct a stylish action film, which made him to offer Ayan and the director was more than happy to enter the ‘YRF Spy Universe’. The news report further stated that ‘Ayan is being handsomely paid to direct War 2. He has signed the contract of Rs. 32 crores as directorial fees for War 2 and the director is all gearing up to start the pre-production work this month. Ayan intends to take War 2 on floors by November and call it a wrap in a year's time’.
Just as when everyone was just taken by storm with this piece of news, there came another news report in Box Office Worldwide. The said news article termed the Ayan Mukerji being offered Rs. 32 crores news as ‘baseless’. The said article in Box Office Worldwide reported that, when they inquired with sources close to the production house, it seemed to be baseless rumour. They reported stating that a source told them that, ‘YRF doesn’t believe in burdening the project with astronomical cost form beginning rather everyone becomes stakeholder and share the profits. Ayan will be paid handsomely but 32 Crores fixed fee is untrue”.
Whatever be the case, stay tuned in to OTTplay for further developments.
