The year 2006 saw the release of the Telugu film ‘Vikramarkudu’, which became a smash hit at the box-office. The film then got remade in Hindi, which was titled ‘Rowdy Rathore’. The film, which starred Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Nassar in the lead roles, too proved to be a goldmine for its makers. Buoyed by the success of this film, there had been strong rumors of late that, the makers are now contemplating of having the film’s sequel, which has been titled as ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’? Ever since the time the news about ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’ came in the forefront, it has been making news for one major reason- the film’s leading man.

Since ‘Rowdy Rathore’ starred Akshay Kumar, it was only obvious that many believed that even its sequel would be spearheaded by him only. But there came another news about Siddharth Malhotra being approached to be the film’s leading man. Not just that, there was also a string buzz that Siddharth Malhotra has given his nod to do the project. But, as per a source-based report in Bollywood Hungama, its being said that ‘Sidharth Malhotra, who is a part of Rohit Shetty cop universe (web-show named ‘Indian Police Force’), has been promised a feature film for the big screen and that the filmmaker Rohit Shetty intended to integrate ‘Indian Police Force’ into his theatrical universe. And that’s why he wants his actors to stay exclusive cops to his universe for the coming two years as he did not want anyone to dilute their cop turn’.

The same article also added that, even though Sidharth Malhotra had a conversation with Rohit Shetty regarding the same, the latter felt that a ‘cop is a cop’ and also that he had a great vision to change the tide for Sidharth Malhotra and his digital series (Indian Police Force) in the days to come. And that’s why, Sidharth Malhotra had reportedly chosen ‘Indian Police Force’ over the remake of ‘Rowdy Rathore’.

As of now, there have been no announcement or confirmation regarding the same. Watch this space for further developments. Meanwhile, Sidharth Malhotra is gearing up for his next film ‘Yodha’s release. The film stars Sidharth Malhotra, Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna and is being directed by Sagar Ambre
and Pushkar Ojha.
