It was in the year 2004 when the Indian silver screens witnessed a revolution and also an evolution of sorts. It was the year when the adrenaline pumping ‘Dhoom’ got released. At a time when the pot-bellied and evil looking villains were being chased in their cars, ‘Dhoom’ saw the suave smooth-operator bike-riding John Abraham who proved that you don’t have to be shouting from the rooftops or mouthing expletives to prove that you are a villain.
In short, ‘Dhoom’ redefined the way the audiences looked at cinema. Buoyed by the success of ‘Dhoom’ the makers (Yash Raj Films) went onto make the film’s sequel in the form of ‘Dhoom 2’, which further upped the villain’s style and lifestyle. And then, came ‘Dhoom 3’, which had Aamir Khan playing a double role (for the first time in his career). After the tremendous success of all the three films (esp. the third one ‘Dhoom 3’), everyone were (and are) eagerly waiting for the next installment of the successful franchise. Just like any other successful film, ‘Dhoom 4’ (as it was reportedly titled), also saw the tossing around of many names as the main lead. But, majority of the reports stated that, the decision-makers in YRF have decided on Aamir Khan to carry forward the ‘Dhoom’ legacy.
But, as per the latest reports (read ‘buzz’), the makers of ‘Dhoom 4’ have now reportedly decided to drop Aamir Khan and instead take the ‘deadly combo’ of Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, a ‘jodi’ which the cinegoers have been dying to see on-screen since the time both these actors made their respective debut. As per a news report in ‘Odisha TV’s website, ‘there is a definite buzz that Dhoom 4 is also in the pipeline but instead of Aamir Khan YRF wants young actors to lead the franchise now and hence, they are thinking of roping in Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor together’.
As for Yash Rash Films, they are having a field day at the movies as they are busy basking in the humongous success of their film ‘Pathaan’, which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
