As India marks the 50th anniversary of the Indo-Pak war that resulted in the liberation of Bangladesh on December 16, 1971, RSVP and Roy Kapur Films announce the release date of their upcoming film, Pippa. This epic war drama, based on the incredible true story of an entire family on the front lines, will be released in theatres on December 9, 2022. The film features Ishaan Khatter in the lead role.

To honour the heroes of the 1971 war, Team Pippa has released some captivating stills from the upcoming war drama. Khatter can be seen in the stills commanding an amphibious war tank (Pippa), which played an important role in the war. The action-packed film is on its way to bringing a glorious chapter of history to the big screen. Pippa is currently filming in Amritsar, West Bengal, Ahmednagar, and Mumbai.

While announcing the release date, Khatter shared a few posters from the film and wrote, "Blood, sweat, and tears. I'm in the midst of shooting, and it’s already one of my best filming experiences so far. We’re putting in the work to bring an honest, visceral, and authentic story of bravado and sacrifice, but also comradeship and brotherhood to the big screens for you.. and lest I forget, the story of an army family navigating a war."

Pippa is an adaptation of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta's book The Burning Chaffees, which follows the story of war veteran Brigadier Mehta of the 45th Cavalry tank squadron (played by Khatter) who fought in the 1971 war.

It is a first-of-its-kind action-packed war film directed by Raja Krishna Menon, starring Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli, and Soni Razdan, and highlighting the role of the magnificent Russian amphibious war tank, the PT-76, popularly and lovingly known as Pippa, in an epic tale of redemption, valour, victory...and family.
