One of the most significant Indian shows of 2022 was Rocket Boys, which starred Ishwak Singh and Jim Sarbh. It brought to mind the intelligence of Homi J. Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai. The team will return on March 16 for the second season. Knowing that a year is a short turnaround, Singh, who plays Sarabhai in the SonyLIV production, gives director Abhay Pannu credit for filming a significant portion of the second installment with the first.
The actor told Mid Day that Abhay had planned out the overall plan for the two seasons before they started. Shooting a significant portion of the second season with the first helped. Because of the meticulous preparation, he didn't feel any disconnect when they returned to the set to finish the season almost a year later.
In the 1970s, Bhabha, Sarabhai, and APJ Abdul Kalam worked together to try to make India a nuclear power. The process will be revealed in the upcoming episode. Singh is pleased that it upholds the show's straightforwardness.
He clarified that the characters have developed and are aiming for greater things. Yet, it continues to be a grounded story.
The Nikkhil Advani-created SonyLIV series brought to mind the renowned Indian scientists Sarabhai and Bhabha by narrating the tale of their close relationship and shared passion for physics. Singh, a voracious reader, knew as soon as he finished the script that he had struck gold.
He related to the series and told the tabloid that during his time in college and later, when he worked in theatre, he was exposed to several writing styles. One may now see what characteristics a good script has. It needs to be accurate for the period and setting. They must connect with it. Upon reading the Rocket Boys script, he experienced all of these.
The actor was also happy that the scientists in the show weren't shown as being superhuman. Instead, they were portrayed as beings with flaws and quirks, much like other people. Sarabhai experienced a trying time in his marriage and later found love outside of it. These are all human feelings.
