At the ISSF World Cup in Baku on Saturday, Indian shooter Rhythm Sangwan scored the highest-ever score in the women's 25m pistol category with a 595. She bettered the previous best of 594, set by Bulgaria's Diana Iorgova in 1994.

Luna Tao of China and Doreen Vennekamp of Germany also tied the record in 2002 and 2023, respectively.

However, the 19-year-old came in eighth overall with a score of 10 in the final. In the opening series, Sangwan was constantly catching up and missed all five of her shots.

Sangwan had earlier won a bronze medal in the competition in the 10m air pistol event.

As for the World Cup, India's Nancy bagged a silver medal at ISSF World Cup 2023 in the Women's 10m Air Rifle event.

The 19-year-old shooter had come eighth in the Qualification Round but after an exceptional performance in the Finals, grabbed the medal.
