Sree Vishnu, who impressed in a role with several grey shades in Bhala Thandanana earlier this year, will be switching to the other side of law and turning into a cop for his next, Alluri. The film, written and directed by Pradeep Varma, is a cop drama named after the legendary Telugu film freedom fighter Alluri Seetharamaraju.

Bekkem Venugopal is bankrolling the action saga under Lucky Media and plans to release the film on September 23. The producer spoke with the media in Hyderabad earlier today. Expressing happiness about his banner completing 15 years in the industry, he said that Alluri fulfilled his desire to produce a full-fledged action film and called it an inspiring cop tale.

“I wanted to become a cop since childhood and I worked on Alluri with a lot of added interest and enthusiasm. I came dressed in a police uniform in the press meet for the same reason,” he said. The film’s principal shoot was wrapped on Wednesday and the post-production formalities are nearly complete. The team will release the songs one after the other starting this weekend.

“We will be embarking on a promotional tour in Vizag from September 3 and pay respects to Alluri Seetharamaraju at his samadhi. We plan to honour several cops as part of the campaign for over 12 days - from Vizag to Nizamabad. This will be followed by a grand pre-release event. This is Sree Vishnu’s career-best performance to date; he has grown and evolved as an actor over the years,” Venugopal said.

Tanikella Bharani, Suman, Madhusudan Rao, Pramodini, Raja Ravindra, Prudhvi Raj, Ravi Varma, Jaya Vani, Vasu Inturi, Vennela Ramarao and Srinivas Vadlamani form the supporting cast. Harshavardhan Rameshwar scores the music for the film which has cinematography by Raj Thota. Dharamendra Kakarala is the editor. Bekkem Babitha is the presenter. Rambabu Gosala has penned the lyrics and Ram Krishna is the stunt choreographer respectively.
