On the day that Kannada actor Dhananjaya celebrated a decade in the industry, he announced the completion of his third venture as producer. Dhananjaya, who launched his home banner Daali Pictures in 2021 and began its journey with Badava Rascal, in which he played the lead, followed that up with Head Bush, which, yet again, had him as protagonist. But by the third film, he decided to step away and help fulfil the banner’s true vision – of being a platform for new and deserving talent.

As has been the case with Badava Rascal and Head Bush, this time too, Dhananjaya gave an opportunity to a new filmmaker. Debutant Umesh K Krupa was to direct the film, called Tagaru Palya, which would have Dhananjaya’s close pal and actor Nagabhushana in the lead. Their choice of heroine was Nenapirali Prem’s daughter Amrutha, which had caused a wee bit of stir on social media, accusing Dhananjaya of supporting and encouraging nepotism. Dhananjaya had addressed the issue during an interview with an online platform, wondering why audiences were overlooking the rest of the cast and crew and how many non-filmi people were getting a platform with Tagaru Palya. He also asked whether a genuinely talented star kid should not be allowed into the industry because of the nepotism debate.

The film, which went on floors in March this year, is already complete. On May 31, Dhananjaya announced that the shooting had been wrapped up and that he is proud to have produced a rooted film. The film, he added, will introduce a host of new talent on the cast and crew and that he was looking forward to presenting it to audiences at the earliest. Since the film has Nagabhushana in the lead, it is expected to be a complete laugh riot.
