After much speculation that Kangana Ranaut was likely to be part of Chandramukhi 2, the makers today indeed confirmed the news and officially announced that she was on board. They also revealed her look from the film, in which she is seen dressed in a regal avatar. Taking to its social media handle, the film's producers wrote, "We are elated to welcome #KanganaRanaut into the world of #Chandramukhi2 @offl_Lawrence #PVasu Vaigaipuyal #Vadivelu @realradikaa @mmkeeravaani @RDRajasekar #ThottaTharani @proyuvraaj @gkmtamilkumaran@LycaProductions #Subaskaran (sic)."

Chandramukhi 2 is said to be a sequel to Superstar Rajinikanth's Chandramukhi (2005), which in turn is a remake of the legendary Fazil movie, Manichithrathazhu (1993). P Vasu, who had directed Chandramukhi, will return as the director to helm the sequel and Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu is likely to reprise his character. Raghava Lawrence will play the lead character in the film.

The actor, who is a huge fan of Superstar Rajinikanth, took his blessings before he began work on the film. Sharing pictures after the meeting, Lawrence wrote, "Hi friends and fans, Today Chandramukhi 2 shooting begins in Mysore with my Thalaivar and guru’s @rajinikanth blessings! I need all your wishes! #Chandramukhi2 (sic)."

Lawrence has been training hard for his character and has even undergone body transformation for the same. The actor has been training under Siva master for the new look.

The actor also caught up on Superstar Rajinikanth's Baba re-release and said that he felt the same excitement as a fan even after 20 years. He wrote, "Hi everyone, I just watched #BabaRerelase premier show! After 20 years I experienced the same excitement as a fan! I heard almost every show is full, it’s all because of Thalaivar’s good heart and baba’s blessings! This craze never ends! Thalaivar always rocks @rajinikanth (sic)." The film, which released recently, opened to packed theatres even two decades after it hit screens originally.
