It's official: This is when Suriya's Kanguva, Vikram's Thangalaan will release

Producer KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green has dropped a major update about two of his most-awaited production ventures, Kanguva and Thangalaan. The production of the two pan-India movies is going on in full swing. While the filmmakers are yet to reveal the release dates for these pan-India movies, Gnanavel noted both these movies will be released in cinemas during "major festival holidays" next year. 

And this adds more weight to the speculation that Kanguva, starring Suriya in the lead role, will arrive in cinemas during the Pongal festival next year. If that's true then the movie might clash at the box office with some of the biggest movies from other languages, including Prabhas's Project K and Ram Charan's Game Changer .

Written and directed by Siva, Kanguva is expected to be groundbreaking addition to Tamil cinema. The motion posters so far have promised that the movie boasts adrenaline-pumping action sequences, a captivating plot, and impressive visual effects. Notably, Gnanavel Raja has dubbed this film "Tamil cinema's response to KGF 2 and RRR." 

The producers recently revealed the movie's official title as Kanguva, which means "a man with the power of fire." Billed as a fantasy costume drama, Kanguva is the costliest movie in Suriya's career. 

Meanwhile, director Pa.Ranjith has already finished about 80 % of the shooting for Thangalaan . With Vikram's distinctive appearance, the movie has already captivated audiences' attention. The movie is a period drama that takes place during colonial India, and Vikram portrays a tribal character. 

Vikram is now on a tour across India promoting the highly-anticipated Ponniyin Selvan 2. After the release of the movie, Vikram will resume shooting for Thangalaan.
