Jaat Box Office Collection Day 2: That there is a Sunny Deol movie in theatres is one of the biggest events for Hindi cinema as the star has delivered a monstrous hit the last time he was there. Yes, we are talking about Gadar 2, the massive hit that reestablished Sunny as a massive bankable star with its big box office collection. So when it was announced that the actor is now joining hands with veteran South filmmaker Gopichand Malineni, the stakes were high and the fans were clearly anticipating. But to his bad luck, that failed to reflect on the opening day collection of the film and the movie opened to lukewarm numbers. Turns out the day 2 was no different, as the film saw a dip instead of a rise, and below is all you need to know about the same.
Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jaat is an action flick that tries to establish Sunny Deol as a pan-India star with its story and screenplay. The film, on the first day of its release, managed to earn only Rs 9.5 crore at the Indian box office, which is not a great number for a star who has delivered Gadar 2 in the post-pandemic world. The number was much lower than all the estimations, and that left a big dent. Add to it that the second day came with a very significant drop instead of a hike. Surprisingly, the movie had the privilege of a Thursday release at hand and still there is no special run that it has shown by the second day.
As per Sacnilk, Jaat earned only Rs 7 crore on day 2, which is Rs 2.5 crore less than the first day. This brings the overall collection of the movie to Rs 16.5 crore, which is nowhere near a happening number for a movie headlined by Sunny Deol and mounted on a budget this big. The movie witnessed an 11% occupancy during the day. The footfalls were very low in the morning but eventually rose in the afternoon and evening. Night showed a significant rise. The Ghayal star has managed to pull off much bigger footfalls in the past.
Jaat features a stellar cast, including Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, and others in pivotal roles. The production is being handled by leading production houses Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory. The film's music is composed by the sensational Thaman S, with Rishi Punjabi handling cinematography, Navin Nooli overseeing editing, and Avinash Kolla in charge of production design. The movie was passed with a U/A certificate and has reportedly gone through 22 cuts in total.
As per Bollywood Hungama, the makers of Jaat had to make 22 cuts in order to get a green light from the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC). They had to tone down many strong words which were either swapped completely or replaced with milder terms. One expletive was replaced with “Mad*rjaat”, while others gave way to milder terms like “Nikamma” and “Besharmo”.
In total, the film went through a 2 minute and 6 second reduction and 1 minute and 37 seconds were added. Jaat is now 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 31 seconds long. Jaat was set to hit the big screen on April 10, 2025.
