Jaat box office collection day 7: Jaat, starring Sunny Deol, was released in cinemas on April 10. After seven days, the film has yet to cross the Rs. 60 crore mark. The film earned its highest single-day collection on Sunday (April 13), Rs. 14 crore. However, on day 7, the film faced a slight dip ahead of the release of Akshay Kumar's historical courtroom drama, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh.
According to Sacnilk, Sunny Deol's Jaat collected Rs. 4.00 crore on day 7 (April 17 early estimates), making the total collection Rs. 57.50 crore. The film is expected to cross Rs. 70 - 80 crore by next week. However, it can face another dip as Akshay Kumar's one of the most-awaited films, Kesari Chapter 2, is all set to hit theaters on April 18. It will be interesting to see how the films perform at the box office in the upcoming weeks.
Meanwhile, the OTTplay review for Jaat reads, "Jaat tries to pack a "Dhai Kilo" punch but lands more cringes than cheers. It's a Ramayana retelling where the audience is left digesting a violent mess in the name of mass."
The Christian community objected to a church scene featuring Randeep Hooda in Jaat. The scene shows Randeep standing inside a church, beneath a cross placed above the sacred pulpit, while members of the congregation are seen praying. The Christian community mentioned that the portrayal did hurt their religious sentiments, and they demanded a ban, and also added that legal action should be taken.
Meanwhile, Jaat revolves around Ranatunga, a ruthless villain, played by Randeep Hooda, and Baldev Pratap Singh aka Jaat, as the latter fights against Ranatunga's corruption.
Kesari Chapter 2 is a historical courtroom drama revolving around lawyer C. Sankaran Nair's efforts to uncover the truth behind the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. His legal battle against the British Empire for the truth behind genocide is one of the greatest incidents in Indian history. The film stars Akshay as Sankaran, R. Madhavan as the antagonist, Neville McKinley, a lawyer, and Ananya Panday as a lawyer who supports Nair. The film will hit theaters on April 18.
