Jack is Siddhu Jonnalagadda's new film that was hyped a lot ahead of its release. The comedy caper hit the screens on April 10, 2025, in a massive number of theaters but ended as a big flop. The film was so poorly received that it was pulled from theaters within a week of its release. However, the makers were clever and secured an OTT deal at a massive price, landing in the profit zone despite the box office failure.
Netflix acquired the rights and made Jack available for streaming from May 8, 2025. Unfortunately, the OTT audience also panned the film. The DJ Tillu star's latest outing has been trolled heavily by viewers online. One viewer wrote, "Good that I didn't spend money and time watching this in theaters. It's hard to sit through even half an hour." Another added, "Siddhu Jonnalagadda needs to move on from his Tillu hangover. He looks and acts the same in every movie."
Jack was written and directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar of Parugu fame. From the day the film was announced, expectations were low, as the director was already facing a series of flops. Still, Siddhu trusted him, and the result was evident for all to see. Jack follows a man who dreams of becoming a RAW agent and attempts to foil a terror attack to help the agency, a concept many found silly and unconvincing.
A majority of critics felt that Siddhu is still stuck in the Tillu brand and needs to break away from it if he wants to build a strong future in Tollywood. Vaishnavi Chaitanya, of Baby fame, played the female lead and was also trolled for her overacting. One viewer commented, "Vaishnavi is miscast and shares no chemistry with Siddhu."
BVSN Prasad, who previously produced films like Tholi Prema and Virupaksha, bankrolled the film on a decent budget. Music was composed by Achu Rajamani and Sam C.S., but not a single song resonated with the audience.
Following the film’s release, Siddhu has kept a low profile and has reportedly stalled the shoot of his next film, Telusu Kada, to rework the script and aim for a strong comeback. Stay tuned for more updates.
