Jacqueline Fernandez was recently seen in Hai Junoon, a musical series, co-starring Neil Nitin Mukesh. However, it received mixed responses from critics and fans. Now, the actress is representing India at the Red Sea Film Festival at Cannes, and during the event, she opened up about stereotypes in Bollywood.
Speaking to Hollywood Reporter India, Jacqueline Fernandez opened up about experiencing Bollywood's stereotypes and how she has been judged. When Jacqueline was asked how the work she has done still influences her later roles, she said, "I think sometimes it gets misinterpreted for okay, well then let's stereotype you and let's put you in these roles and let's get you to these because that's what you're suited to, and that has pretty much been my journey."
Fernandez also said that the struggle has always been, but she wants to do more. She also said that she wants to grow and wants to explore more. "But that has been the challenge because we're very much judged and offered roles according to the persona that we have," she said.
Speaking more about it, the Kick actress said that nevertheless, it's been fantastic as she was able to work with Mia Yadav in an anthology where she directed her. After watching her work, Jacqueline said, 'I wanna work with you. You're this amazing female director, and you just understand how to bring out so much from your actresses."
This music series follows two music groups, the Misfits and the SuperSonics, as they compete in a talent competition called GOAT. This series explores themes of self-discovery, creative obstacles, and the value of excellence against the backdrop of a prestigious music competition. Apart from Fernandez and Neil Nitin Mukesh, the series also features Sumedh Mudgalkar, Boman Irani, Priyank Sharma, and others.
