Jagaddhatri: Newcomer Ankita Mallick soaks in the success of the show

In Bengali television, Thursday is the day of heightened tension. The weekly TRP report that shows the performances of the TV serials is released on this day. However, it has been a golden time for the Zee Bangla serial Jagaddhatri. The serial has received a lot of love from the audience and the show has fared well with a consistently high TRP. Ankita Mallick as Jagaddhatri and Soumyadip Mukhopadhyay as Swayambhu have won the hearts of the audience. 

Ankita is a newbie in the world of glitz and glamour. A third-year student of psychology, the actress hails from Kolkata. How does she feel about so much attention? She told Anandabazar Online, “I feel good. The audience loves us. The story is different. The entire credit goes to Snehasish da (Snehasish Chakraborty, who produces the show). I am also happy.”

On the other hand, there is news every day about serials getting canceled. Some serial stops at three months, and some have a longevity of around eight months. Just a few days back Mithai used to top the TRP list. Now it does not come even in the top five. Does Ankita feel insecure seeing all these? She said, 'I never suffer from insecurities. I know that everything has a beginning and an end. Everything will happen over time. Hence I am not afraid."

Right now the actress wants to work diligently. However, her studies are also important, she feels. It is not possible for her to regularly go to college due to a tight schedule. But she believes that studying is the key to success.
