Though Mithai lost the top position in TRP, it was the most popular to date

Amidst the rumors of Mithai coming to an end, the serial’s fans had a new setback. Mithairani lost the winner's seat after a long time. Is Soumitrisha losing her charm?
Mithairani said two days back that ‘new ones must be given space’. Perhaps this is the rule of time. Though Mithai lost the top position in TRP, it was the most popular to date. But this time, it lost to Jagaddhatri. This is bad news for Mithai’s fans.
In a survey, the five most favorite Bengal on-screen characters are published per month. According to this survey, conducted by Ormax Media, Mithai held the top position for one and a half years. But the recently released February list shows that Jagaddhatri's Ankita Mallik grabbed the top position this time. Soumitrisha Kundu went down to the second position. The Bengal topper serial Anurager Chhowa’s Deepa is in the third position. Khori and Phoring are in fourth and fifth places, respectively.
Jagaddhatri’s fans are elated at the news. However, the Mithai fans, though sad, give the logic that “Mithai is in the second position even after two years. This is a big deal. Earlier, we would feel bad. But Soumitrisha said that the new ones must be given space.”
Mithai is currently the oldest mega on Bengali television. Soumitrisha rules the viewers’ hearts in the dual role of Mithi and Mithai. She recently said. “New ones will come and spaces must be made for them. We also were once new, and the old ones made space for us. A serial has to end at one point in time. This is a habit, and this will change. But I keep on saying one thing – we will never be deprived of the fans’ love, irrespective of whether Mithai is in the first or the 10th position. This love will stay even after Mithai gets over.”
In this year's Zee Bangla Sonar Sangsar Awards, Mithai and Jagaddhatri were the joint winners of the best actress award. However, the Mithai and Siddhartha pair lost the best couple award to Jagaddhatri and Swayambhu.
