Jagame Thandhiram: Take this quiz to see if you are good enough to join Dhanush’s Suruli and gang

Suruli and his team are here! Jagame Thandhiram, the big budget, Tamil action thriller that Dhanush and Karthik Subbaraj fans have been waiting for over a year, has finally released on Netflix. The movie, which has a host of exciting talents as part of the cast and crew, tells the tale of three gangsters while also shedding light on the different meanings of home. 

But how well do you know the cast and crew of Jagame Thandhiram. Take this quiz to find out:

1. Karthik Subbaraj is a self-confessed fan of superstar Rajinikanth and the filmmaker got an opportunity to work with Thalaivaa in his previous film, Petta. He seems to have carried that fanboy fervour for Jagame Thandhiram as well.

2. Karthik reportedly worked on the script of Iraivi during the production of Jigarthanda in 2013. The film, which has SJ Surya, Vijay Sethupathi and Bobby Simha, is based on a real-life incident.

Santosh Narayanan composed Jagame Thanthiram’s songs, of which Rakita and Nethu were rendered by Dhanush. “We spent a lot of time in the studio trying out different things that eventually led to the creation of each song. I was given the space to explore music which I feel is very important. When Rakita released, I was so happy that listeners told me the song made them happy in stressful times,” said Narayanan.

Malayalam actor Joju George plays a gangster named Shivadoss in Jagame Thandhiram, which also marks his debut in Kollywood. This is the second Netflix release this year after Nayattu.

Aishwarya Lekshmi, who had starred in superhit Malayalam films such as Mayaanadhi and Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela, auditioned for Jagame Thandhiram right after Varathan’s shoot. The movie was delayed with Karthik choosing to direct Rajinikanth’s film ahead of Dhanush’s.

Scottish actor James Cosmo, who is most noted for playing Lord Commander Jeor Mormont in Game of Thrones, makes his debut in an Indian film Jagame Thandhiram. Apparently, he was fascinated by the song-and-dance sequences in Indian films and wanted to be part of one such sequence in Jagame Thandhiram.

Ikorodu Bois’ recreation of the trailer of the Netflix film Extraction, which was directed by the Russo brothers and had starred Chris Hemsworth, earned them an invite to Hollywood. After seeing their video, the Russo brother tweeted that they would love to have them at the premiere of Extraction 2.

Mercury is a horror-thriller revolving around five friends who are terrorised by the malevolent spirit of a victim that was maimed by mercury poisoning. The movie starring Prabhu Deva in the lead, has no dialogues.

Dhanush and wife Aishwarya set up the production and distribution company Wunderbar Films in 2010. The name was inspired by the Quentin Tarantino film Inglourious Basterds. The latest release of the banner was Dhanush’s Maari 2.

Karthik Subbaraj made his debut with Pizza in 2012 and followed it up with Jigarthanda, which had Siddharth and Bobby Simha in lead roles. Apart from the feature films such as Iraivi, Mercury and Petta, the filmmaker also directed segments such as Neer and Miracle in the anthologies Bench Talkies and Putham Pudhu Kaalai, respectively.
