Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana has an ensemble cast featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, and others. It is one of the most-awaited films and has been garnering a lot of attention ever since it was announced. Apart from the cast, the film continues to make headlines due to its grand setting during the shoot. Now, a recent report suggested that Jaideep Ahlawat was offered Vibhishan's role, but the actor had to reject it. Read below to know why!
Jaideep Ahlawat was offered Vibhishan's role in Ramayana
The Times of India mentioned that Jaideep Ahlawat was offered the role of Vibhishan in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. However, the Jewel Thief actor had to reject it due to scheduling conflicts and prior commitments. It also added that the makers were excited to welcome him to the cast but the schedule did not match.
For the unversed, apart from Jaideep, Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi was also in talks for Vibhishan's role.

Ramayana cast
In the film, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen as Lord Ram while Sai Pallavi will portray Sita. KGF star Yash will be seen in the Ravana role. Sunny Deol and Kunal Kapoor will portray Lord Hanuman and Lord Indra, respectively, as per reports. Lara Dutta will reportedly portray the role of Kaikeyi.
Ramayana release date
In November 2024, the makers announced that the film will be released in two parts. The first part will hit theatres in Diwali 2026, while the second part will be released in Diwali 2027.
Namit Malhotra, creative director of Prime Focus Studios, shared the release date and wrote on Instagram, "More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen. Jaideep Ahlawat's work front
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Jaideep continues to mesmerise his fans with his versatile performances. The actor was recently seen in Paatal Lok Season 2 and received praise. He is currently gearing up for the release of Jewel Thief. The heist thriller film will land on Netflix on April 25. It also features Saif Ali Khan and Nikita Dutta.
