Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer, starring Rajinikanth, was one of the hits of 2023, once again proving the star power of Thalaivar. After the film won much love and raked in impressive numbers, the makers announced the sequel. The wait is now on for Jailer 2. And in a piece of exciting news for Malayalam cinephiles, Anna Rajan, also known as Lichi after her role in Angamaly Diaries, revealed that she is also a part of the Rajinikanth-starrer sequel.
Jailer 2 is one of the most-awaited films, and not just for fans of Tamil cinema. The film's shoot is progressing with speculations about the cast doing the rounds. Now, Malayalam actress Anna Reshma Rajan confirmed on social media that she is a part of the upcoming sequel.
Taking to Instagram, Anna wrote, "It was a moment of great fulfillment when I had the opportunity to meet the esteemed superstar and legendary actor, RAJINIKANTH sir. I feel truly fortunate to havethe opportunity to work with him in JAILER 2."
Currently, the shooting of Jailer 2 is progressing in Kozhikode, Kerala. The Kozhikode schedule, one of the main locations of the film's shoot in Kerala, will go on for 20 days, as per ReporterLive. Reports also claim that Suraj Venjaramoodu, who made his Tamil acting debut recently with Veera Dheera Sooran, is also a part of Jailer 2.
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was also seen in Jailer in the role of Mathew. Recently, Jailer 2 director Nelson had visited the set of Hridyapoorvam, the Mohanlal-Sathyan Anthikad film. Though there is no confirmation that Mohanlal would be a part of Jailer 2, fans are hopeful of seeing Mathew return for the sequel as well. Jailer 2 kicked off shooting in March.
The 2023 Tamil film, Jailer, is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium. Rajinikanth starred in the lead role of retired jailer Muthuvel Pandian. Vinayakan played the antagonist named Varman, while Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Sunil, and Yogi Babu play other key roles in the Rajinikanth starrer.
